In the heart of the Zillertal in Tyrol lies the village of Hintertux – a genuine holiday destination that inspires in both summer and winter. Impressive Alpine scenery, a wide range of activities and authentic hospitality make a stay in Hintertux truly memorable.
Whether you come for hiking, mountain biking or skiing on the Hintertux Glacier, the landscape, the choice of activities and the atmosphere in the village offer ideal conditions for your holiday at Fernerblick Apartments.

In summer, Hintertux turns into a green mountain paradise. Hikers and mountaineers find countless paths and routes, from gentle walks to challenging summit tours. The Tux-Finkenberg area offers around 350 km of marked hiking trails and about 150 km of Nordic walking routes – perfect for discovering the Zillertal Alps at your own pace.
Trails lead across flowering alpine meadows, past clear mountain streams and up to impressive viewpoints. With a bit of luck, you may spot shy wildlife in its natural habitat.

Within the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, covering about 422 km², you can experience the mountains particularly intensively. Well-marked trails guide you to quiet pastures, panoramic spots and striking natural sites – ideal for guests who wish to enjoy pure mountain air, silence and wide views.

Tux-Finkenberg is known for its waterfalls, most of which are easy to reach. In Hintertux there is a dedicated waterfall trail that follows impressive cascades fed by the ice of the Hintertux Glacier. Over steps and through moss-covered forest sections, a more demanding hike leads up to the Spannagelhaus at the glacier. Numerous viewpoints along the way offer excellent photo opportunities to capture your holiday experiences.

Around Hintertux, mountain bikers and e-bikers will find a varied network of tours. Routes range from introductory trails to challenging alpine tracks. Popular Bike & Hike routes combine cycling with summit hikes and are ideal for guests who enjoy experiencing the mountains actively. Local sports shops provide advice, equipment and hire services to keep you safe and well-prepared on the trails.

The Tux-Finkenberg region places great emphasis on families with children. In summer, adventure trails such as the TUX Worlds along the Tux stream, mountain playgrounds and special programmes for young explorers offer plenty of variety. A snowball fight in the middle of summer is possible thanks to the Hintertux Glacier and provides a refreshing change on hot days. Children’s canyoning in mountain streams and guided cave tours are further highlights for an active family holiday.
In winter, five ski and snowboard schools with large children’s areas, Pepis Kinderklub at Penkenjoch and the Gletscherflohpark in Hintertux create perfect conditions for introducing children to the joy of skiing in a playful way.

During the winter months, Hintertux turns into a snow village. The Hintertux Glacier ski area offers around 60 km of pistes at varying levels of difficulty, making it ideal for beginners, families and advanced skiers alike. Together with Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Penken/Mayrhofen and Ahorn, the Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 comprises a total of around 200 km of well-prepared pistes.
Cross-country skiers can enjoy more than 28 km of groomed trails, while snowshoe hikers and winter walkers explore the quiet winter landscape on marked paths away from the slopes. Tobogganing, ice skating and curling provide additional fun for the whole family.
Cosy mountain huts and restaurants in Hintertux and the surrounding area serve typical Tyrolean specialities and hearty dishes – the perfect way to round off an active day in the snow.

Nestled in the mountains of the Zillertal, Hintertux is a paradise for snow enthusiasts. Surrounded by majestic peaks, you can enjoy a picturesque winter landscape with wide panoramic views. On a winter hike or snowshoe tour you will experience the peaceful atmosphere of snow-covered forests and the special light of the mountains.
Away from the pistes, toboggan runs, winter walking trails and traditional huts invite you to spend the day in the clear mountain air and to end it in a relaxed, quiet way – ideal if you want to combine skiing with genuine nature experiences.

The Hintertux Glacier is the most famous destination right on our doorstep. In winter and in the transitional periods of autumn and spring, the glacier ski area offers very reliable snow conditions and is part of the Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 with around 200 km of pistes.
Due to climate change, however, the situation in the height of summer has changed: during the warmest weeks of the year – especially in July and August – the ski area on the Hintertux Glacier is now regularly closed for skiing to protect the glacier and its ice. In official communication, the glacier is still promoted as offering “snow fun on 365 days”, but in practice this means year-round snow experiences rather than uninterrupted skiing.
For holiday planning at Fernerblick this is an advantage if communicated honestly: skiing in winter and on many days in spring and autumn, plus glacier experiences, viewpoints and the feeling of snow in summer – without creating false expectations of continuous year-round skiing. Whether you visit the glacier world in summer, take a cable car ride to over 3,000 metres, explore the Spannagel cave or watch international ski teams training in late summer and autumn, the Hintertux Glacier remains an extraordinary place to experience the Alps up close.
